From Composer, Jesse Manno:
“Here a snippet of work in progress music for Cirque de Minuit. It is the first couple layers of the intricate polymetric workings of a big mysterious clock created by the performers. I’ll be developing these layers and then warm it up with live vocals and percussion. We’ll have a piano nocturne, a snake charmer, backwards music boxes, symphonic operatic arias, and Oktoberfest in April, among other flavors. I’m working hard on this evening of music for y’all, but having fun too! Thank you Frequent Flyers for this opportunity.”
From Artistic Director, Nancy Smith:
“Clocks and the sense of time passing / timelessness is an element throughout the show. There are 2 particular sections in Act 1 that use the idea of clocks for the specific choreography: we call them: Clockface and Clockworks. With this music, we explore the dancers making the shape of a clockface and moving rhythmically to the ticking with an invented apparatus spinning at center that is suggestive of the inner workings of the clock.” Enjoy this snippet!
